Spring Semester Junior Year:

Brainstorm and edit the personal essay. The Common Application has a personal essay section. Mentors will help generate ideas and proofread an outline.

Resume: Mentors will provide a template and help students format their resume.

Fall Semester Senior Year:

Proofread the Common Application: The Common Application is one of the easiest - and trickiest - ways of applying to college. Having all applications in one place is very helpful, but it still has some confusing questions and isn’t always easy or obvious to navigate. A mentor will help students answer the numerous background questions and guide students on how to fill out the activities section.

Interview Preparation: Many schools require interviews for admission and scholarships. Our mentors will help prepare the students for their interview.

This will not require a large time commitment. I expect volunteers will need to spend between 3-5 hours with a student.
